چکیده

Abstract Recently, the demand for wood pellets as solid biofuel co-firing process in industry has increased. However, increase is not accompanied by availability of sawdust (SD) a raw material. Thus, seeking alternative biomass needed to substitute wood. One biomasses that can be considered material bio-pellet waste from coffee industry. Meanwhile, annually produces large amounts organic such spent grounds (SCG) and husks (CH). Both wastes have compounds contained so they utilized biofuel. In this research, We investigated quality changes before after addition different mass ratios (1:1, 1:3). A densification method with pressure 2 tons used pellet-making process. Physicochemical characterization density, durability, compressive strength, calorific value, proximate composition analysis using SCG CH are conducted. The result shows into pellet increased value 21.03 MJ.kg -1 21.71 . ratio 50: 50 SD: better than (20.64 ). mechanical test slightly decreases durability 99.34% 97.02%. appearance density ρ = 892.46 kg.m -3 1119.33

Experiments on torrefied wood pellet: study by gasification and characterization for waste biomass to energy applications

Samples of torrefied wood pellet produced by low-temperature microwave pyrolysis were tested through a series of experiments relevant to present and near future waste to energy conversion technologies. Operational performance was assessed using a modern small-scale downdraft gasifier. Owing to the pellet's shape and surface hardness, excellent flow characteristics were observed. The torrefied p...

Carbon monoxide poisoning in wood pellet storerooms.

Background Carbon monoxide is the leading cause of mortality from unintentional poisoning in Slovenia. It has been shown that carbon monoxide levels can rise in wood pellet storerooms because of chemical degradation of pellets, even at room temperature. We present a case of lethal carbon monoxide poisoning with first responder carbon monoxide exposure. Aims To highlight the dangers rescuers f...

Physical and chemical characterization of waste wood derived biochars.

Biochar, a solid byproduct generated during waste biomass pyrolysis or gasification in the absence (or near-absence) of oxygen, has recently garnered interest for both agricultural and environmental management purposes owing to its unique physicochemical properties. Favorable properties of biochar include its high surface area and porosity, and ability to adsorb a variety of compounds, includin...
